What is Children's Legacy Center?

We exist to give hope, provide healing, and ensure justice for children and youth impacted by abuse, neglect, or other significant trauma.

The work done at the Children’s Legacy Center would not be possible without support from our donors, for which we are so grateful.

Nearly 85% of our operational expenses grant funded and reimbursement based, so donor dollars represent a minimum of five times their gift value.

For example, if you gifted $100, we are able to utilize those funds multiple times, making that gift worth over $500 toward accomplishing the mission of the Children’s Legacy Center.

The Children’s Legacy Center (CLC) provides research-based, results-driven services to the Shasta County community, focusing on maximizing impact for children and families.

Service 1: Forensic Interviewing - Our forensic interviewing team ensures that children are not re-traumatized during the investigative process. In our child-friendly facility, children share their account with a forensic interviewer while investigators, social workers, prosecutors, advocates, and physicians observe from a separate room. Through a live earpiece, the team can provide relevant questions to the interviewer, reducing the number of times a child must recount their experience. This minimizes trauma and enhances accountability for those responsible for harm.

Service 2: Counseling Services - The Center for Resilience at CLC offers behavioral health services for children, youth, and their non-offending family members. We use a holistic, trauma-informed, evidence-based therapeutic approach focused on resilience and healing.

Service 3: Advocacy - Family advocates provide support to parents and caregivers during forensic interviews or medical exams, explaining the legal process, offering emotional support, and connecting families with necessary resources. They also provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and parenting education.

Service 4: Medical Services - Our forensic medical exam space allows medical partners to conduct child-centered medical assessments. The exams are facilitated with the child’s consent, focusing on physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as child sex trafficking, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment.

Regional Pilot Program - The Children’s Legacy Center is partnering with the State of California’s Child Trafficking Unit to develop a comprehensive regional pilot program. This initiative aims to identify challenges and recommend solutions to help rural counties in Northern California address the needs of children and youth impacted by exploitation. We are also developing a coordinated response connecting agencies across multiple counties for the benefit of children and youth impacted by trafficking.  Additionally, our research and evaluation practices will assist in developing proven solutions to meet the extensive needs of at-risk and exploited youth.

Research & Evaluation -

The Department of Innovative Research of Children's Legacy Center aims to generate evidence-based insights and contribute to the existing knowledge in the fields of trauma, commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), sexual abuse, domestic violence (DV), and human resilience and thriving. As the research arm of the organization, we set out to evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s programs and interventions and their impact on the lives of the children and their families in their journey toward healing. As a research unit within the larger organization, we hope to inform program design, policy, and systems change.

What is Arch Collaborative?

Children’s Legacy Center and One SAFE Place remain separate legal entities. Still, both now operate under the unified “doing business as” name of Arch Collaborative, allowing for coordinated resources and operations while maintaining their individual legal status. Collaboration between OSP and CLC enhances our impact, creating a seamless network that responds effectively to trauma, violence, and exploitation in our community.

In October, Children’s Legacy Center and One SAFE Place filed "doing business as" (DBA) statements to operate as Arch Collaborative while retaining each organization’s EIN to meet funding requirements. This approach ensures stable, uninterrupted services while maintaining compliance and flexibility, streamlining operations, and securing continued support.

Arch Collaborative represents more than a rebranded name —it speaks to our determination to partner well to ensure a holistic continuum of care to reach more individuals and respond to emerging needs with greater agility. We’re grateful for the support of our community and excited to continue building a safer, more supportive future.
