STRENGTHENING CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND THE COMMUNITY

Transforming Hope into Action

Your support transforms hope into action across our community. Thanks to your generosity, children in foster care find advocates who stand by them, families secure stable housing, and individuals receive the counseling and wellness resources they need to thrive. Through impactful programs like Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), CalFresh Healthy Living, and Disaster Case Management, you empower independence, resilience, and lasting change. Together, we are building pathways to brighter futures and stronger communities. Thank you for making a difference.

NVCSS Programs

Advocacy

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA): CASA trains and mobilizes community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care. CASA volunteers stand up for these children, speak up for them, and champion their best interests without compromise. With a deep commitment to ensuring each child finds a safe and permanent home, CASA volunteers make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable youth.

CalFresh Healthy Living
Our CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) team is committed to empowering healthier lifestyles and broadening access to nutritious foods. We provide nutrition, gardening, and physical education to communities, fostering well-rounded health practices. By working closely with community partners, we strengthen and expand the nutritional resources available to those in need, creating a foundation for sustainable, healthy living.

Housing
With 343 housing units across 14 complexes throughout the North State, our housing program supports individuals and families in need, including those with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, seniors, and families. Our mission is to provide stable housing opportunities and promote support services that enable residents to live independently, reinforcing a high quality of life and community support.

Counseling Services
Our Counseling program is dedicated to providing comprehensive, ethical care with an exceptional team of licensed professionals, including marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, and supervised interns. We offer services like individual psychotherapy for children and adults, family and couples counseling, school-based therapy, and dual diagnosis treatment. In local schools, our counselors offer individual and group sessions to help students thrive.

Wellness Centers
Six Stones Wellness Center in Siskiyou County and the STANS Wellness & Recovery Center in Tehama County are safe spaces for individuals with mental health challenges to foster wellness, recovery, and resiliency. Our peer- and staff-led activities encourage clients to actively participate in their recovery, promoting acceptance, tolerance, and personal growth.

Family Services

  • Healthy Families Shasta County: Designed for expectant and new parents, this program supports a healthy start for children in Shasta County through home visits and referrals from trained staff. Families with children under 3 months or expecting parents are welcome to join voluntarily.

  • Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Program (TAPP): Using the Positive Youth Development (PYD) model, TAPP supports young parents in setting life goals, identifying personal strengths, and building a positive future with guidance from dedicated case managers.

  • CalWORKs Employment Assistance: Based in the Corning Family Resource Center, our CalWORKs program assists parents in partnership with the Tehama County Department of Social Services. The program provides job preparation, placement, and retention support, helping families achieve self-sufficiency.

  • Immigration Legal Services Program: Our Immigration Legal Services Program provides limited legal assistance to foreign-born individuals and their families with diverse immigration needs, primarily within Tehama County. By supporting family reunification, poverty reduction, and civic integration, the program helps strengthen families, raise new Americans and voters, and ultimately contributes to a stronger American society.

Disaster Case Management
Our Disaster Case Management Program provides vital support for disaster survivors and their families through personalized case management. We offer advocacy, information, and referrals, along with crisis intervention and recovery services. Our team walks with survivors from crisis to recovery, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and support.
