About NSGT

Giving Tuesday is a movement that began in 2012 to promote charitable giving during the Thanksgiving holiday season. It has become an international phenomenon with billions of dollars donated online to nonprofit organizations on the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving Day.

The Community Foundation of the North State developed and launched North State Giving Tuesday (NSGT) in 2014 as online networking and giving event for Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Modoc, and Trinity county nonprofits. NSGT has significantly grown in popularity and impact each year, raising over $9 million since its inception. This event provides nonprofit organizations the opportunity to gain exposure and start relationships with new donors, and for the people in these counties to come together to raise as much money as possible for participating organizations within a 14 -hour period. North State nonprofits are required to complete a vetting application process to participate so donors know these organizations truly have the community's best interests in mind.

Using the NorthStateGives.org website, donors can choose to give to as many of their favorite nonprofits as they desire. These organizations are searchable by name and field of interest.

The nonprofit sector is the heart and soul of the region, enriching our communities in immeasurable ways. Our region includes many incredible organizations that are doing extraordinary things. North State Giving Tuesday is a unique opportunity for the public to learn about the difference they make in our communities and a chance to express their gratitude by donating. North State Giving Tuesday is a time-limited donation period designed to expand and increase giving to local nonprofits that provide vital services that help sustain our region.

North State Giving Tuesday is powered by Community Foundation of the North State with presenting sponsorship by Umpqua Bank. Thank you to ALL our amazing sponsors!
