Frequently Asked Donor Questions

How do I get a tax receipt? All donations through NSGT are tax-deductible. Upon successful processing of your donation, your tax receipt is emailed to you immediately. CFNS holds all donated funds before distributing to the named nonprofit and your tax receipt will be issued under the EIN of CFNS 68-0242276. If you misplace this email, you can view your giving history and receipts by logging into your free donor account or request a duplicate receipt by emailing support@mightycause.com

Who will receive my contact information? The organization(s) you choose to support will receive the donor's name and contact information unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous contribution. As host of NSGT, the Community  Foundation of the North State will receive contact information for ALL donors who participate. This information is used solely to thank the donor for participating and to notify the donor of future North State Giving Tuesday activities.

Can I get a refund? All donations are final and cannot be refunded. Exceptions will be considered for accidental duplicates and typos. To request a refund you must email support@mightycause.org. Donation adjustments must be requested no later than 12/6/24.

About Fees

Transparency in giving - We believe in transparency around the cost of fundraising. That's why we don't hide the processing fee for gifts, why we offer the option for donors to add a little extra to their gifts to help offset the fee, and why we share more about exactly why this fee is necessary. Historically, over 75% of all donors chose to help offset processing fees so nonprofits received the full-intended donation. Donations made through the online platform are received by the Community Foundation, reconciled, and then issued to participating nonprofits as a grant. Grant checks are mailed no later than 12/19/24

NSGT Fee Breakdown: 5.75% per transaction (3% tech platform provider, 2.2% card/bank processors, 0.55% NSGT organizers for payment reconciliation, grant processing, and admin handling)
